Workshop I: Application of AI in Herbal Medicine
Professor Khaled Meselhy Ibrahim
Workshop Description:
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) presents new opportunities for integrating Western Medicine with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to enhance evidence-based herbal practice within pharmacy. This workshop introduces participants to state-of-the-art AI tools capable of accelerating literature synthesis, predicting mechanisms of action, generating integrative herbal protocols, and identifying herb–drug interactions with greater precision. Through a series of guided hands-on activities, attendees will explore the complementary frameworks of Western pharmacology and TCM pattern differentiation, using AI to create clinically relevant, personalized treatment strategies.
This workshop highlights the transformative role of AI in bridging cultural medical paradigms, extending the pharmacist’s capacity for personalized care, and promoting the rational and safe integration of herbal medicine within modern healthcare. The session aims to equip participants with actionable skills to apply AI-enhanced integrative approaches in clinical, academic, and research settings.
Workshop II: Application of AI in Pharmaceutical Industry and Healthcare
Professor Tamer Hassanein
Workshop Description:
This workshop explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in modern pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare systems. Designed for pharmacy students, researchers, academics, and industry professionals, the session provides a practical and comprehensive overview of how AI technologies are reshaping drug development, manufacturing, clinical practice, and research workflows.
Participants will learn how AI accelerates drug discovery through target identification, virtual screening, and predictive modeling, enabling faster and more cost-efficient R&D. The brief also covers AI-driven formulation development, showcasing how machine learning supports quality-by-design, optimizes excipient selection, predicts dissolution behavior, and enhances stability assessment.
In healthcare, the session demonstrates how AI enhances diagnostics (radiology, pathology, genomics), improves clinical decision-making, supports personalized medicine, and facilitates telemedicine and smart hospital systems.
Participants will also be introduced to essential AI tools that improve research productivity, scientific writing, literature review, and data analysis, aligned with responsible and ethical use of AI in academic and clinical settings. The workshop concludes with a practical hands-on component to help attendees apply AI models and tools to real pharmaceutical and healthcare scenarios.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a clear understanding of the opportunities, challenges, and practical applications of AI across the entire pharmaceutical and healthcare ecosystem.
